Shin-Bon Service Saturday July 15, 2023 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Followed by Lantern Floating at Pond & Food in Social Hall

At the end of the O’Bon week, our temple observes another O’Bon ritual called Shin-Bon, a service (Bon for the newly deceased) dedicated to those who died since the last O’Bon. This year, we will hold Shin-Bon Service on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at 7:00 PM and honor each of the newly deceased with Tōrō, a floating lantern. Following the service, we will release the lanterns in the lotus pond and chant as the Tōrō float gently through the water – signifying their return to the spiritual world. Up-to 60 attendees may offer floating lanterns to remember loved ones who passed in previous years. Floating lantern availability is prioritized for present and former members. Application deadline is June 30, 2023.
